What challenges do rural areas face ?
Many rural areas face resource limitations with regard to education
• Lack of teaching materials such as books
• Lack of breadth / expertise across subject matters – for students to explore different topics
• Inspirational videos and documentaries – help build dreams and objectives
• Lack of tools to engender and develop creativity
• After school activities to cultivate further development of individual
• Includes arts, sports, digital skills, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, among others
Advances in technology is furthering the divide
• Particularly for rural areas and / or areas without adequate resources
Many areas have strong and dedicated teachers and facilitators
• They need to be better equipped with resources and training
• Digital platforms can bring existing content and resources to these areas efficiently
What needs to be done
Provide better resources to rural communities
- Technology can help scale and bring existing resources
- Massive amount of content is available
– Providing broad array of material and resources for both teachers and students
– Can be used offline for communities that do not have reliable data networks
Provide kids with inspiration and role models
- Very often, top kids are brough to cities for better schooling and opportunities
– Can’t just take best kids out of the area
– Need to bring better resources to rural areas - Provide exposure to opportunities and potential areas of study or practice is important
- Help kids find potential passions and dreams and help them reach their dreams
Equip children with digital skills
- Very important for their future and to be competitive
and succeed in the digital economy. - Equip areas with tools that can not only serve kids but
also adults in the community
What we have built
🟡Education platform that can be entirely offline or used online (hosted by servers)
- Learning Management system allowing login and management for teachers, students, and administrators
- Content curated and organized by Grade and Subject (Grades 1 – 7);
– Currently aligned to standards established by the Kenya Institute for
Curriculum Development (KICD) - Can be refined / adapted to meet other
objective

- Smart Board interactive Display and Chromebooks (1:1)
- Dedicated classroom where kids will spend one to two periods per day

- Aggregation and Organization of curriculum for all levels of education across subjects
- Interface for teachers and students to plan and engage in daily lessons on Chromebooks
- Create module to develop the creative mind (art, gears, etc)
Support
- Onsite training and support to ensure proper utilization of technologies
